The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan) is a popular scheme by the Indian government set out to provide financial aid to the farmers nationwide. Under this program, any eligible farmer is supposed to get Rs. 6000 per annum as three installments of Rs. 2000 each, transferred into the farmer's account directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme in his bank account. By July of 2025, the 20th edition of this scheme is already looking forward to the launch by farmers all around the country. There is growing speculation that it may release the money in 2025 on July 18, and here is all you need to know about the latest updates, such as the key importance of e-KYC, how to check the beneficiary list, and the ways to guarantee you get the Rs. 2,000 payment without any delays.

what is PM Kisan Yojana?

The PM Kisan scheme was launched on February 20, 2019, and is aimed at benefiting small and marginal farmers by supplying them with financial aid to cover the agricultural and household needs. The scheme is aimed at those farmers who possess up to 2 hectares of arable land; thus, it provides to them yearly Rs. 6,000 in three equal parts, usually issued at each 4-month period. The program has turned out to be one of the biggest DBT programs globally, with more than 12 crore farmers benefitting so far after establishment. The transfers are made in April-July, August-November, and December-March and thus in such a way that the farming activities are timely helped.

The 19th installment of the scheme had been issued on February 24th, 2025, and now, as the month of July is moving on, farmers are anticipating the 20th installment. Although the government does not provide any specific information, according to the media reports and previous release tendencies, the payment is most likely to be credited somewhere around July 18, 2025. This date has caught impetus because Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on this day and will be addressing a huge rally of farmers at Motihari or Siwan, and there is a possibility that he may make the announcement of the release of the installment.

The Anticipated Release Date of the 20th Installments

The installments of PM Kisan are usually released after every four months, so the general times are February, June, and October. Nevertheless, the 20th edition, initially scheduled to be held in June 2025, has been postponed, and no official explanation has been given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The government has been estimated to have released the Rs. 2,000 payment in between July 15 and July 20, 2025, with July 18 being the most speculated date as per various reports. Such an expectation has been expedited by the fact that the prime minister has been slated to visit Bihar, where such proclamations have been made in the past.

The farmer is recommended to be at pace checking the officially provided site pmkisan.gov.in frequently or to ring the helpline numbers (155261 or 011-24300606) to get the latest news. Although the concrete date is not yet confirmed, it is essential that the required steps, including e-KYC and the verification of the bank details, be completed, as the failure to do so will lead to the fact that the payment will not be credited to the account.

The Reason as to Why e-KYC Is Mandatory

An e-KYC process is one of the most important prerequisites in availing the PM Kisan installment. The government has made laxity in e-KYC policy a compulsory requirement for all registered farmers, and any delay may lead to being delisted as a beneficiary. In the e-KYC procedure, the identity of the farmers is checked through their Aadhaar information, and that aspect ensures that the finances reach the right persons without any anomaly.

The e-KYC by the farmers can be undertaken in the following ways:

1. OTP-Based e-KYC: Go to pmkisan.gov.in/e-KYC, feed your Aadhaar number, and confirm it using the OTP received on your Aadhaar-registered cell phone.

2. Biometric e-KYC: In case you have not done that, you will have to visit a Common Service Centre (CSC) or seek biometric authentication at your local agriculture office.

3. Face Authentication: Face authentication will be available to some farmers who have the support feature in their mobile devices using the PM Kisan mobile app.

Farmers should make sure that they have a working bank account related to their Aadhaar because the details that do not match will result in failure to get payments. Also, the IFSC code and account number of the bank account used should be valid, and land records should be updated and verified in the name of the farmer.

The procedure to check the PM Kisan beneficiary list.

Farmers can verify their names in the PM Kisan beneficiary list to ascertain whether they are eligible to receive the 20th installment. Otherwise, you get it only if you are on the list and you receive the Rs. 2,000. This is how to verify the beneficiary status:

1. Open the official PM Kisan site (pmkisan.gov.in).

2. Go to the farmers corner area and click on beneficiary status.

3. Key in your Aadhaar ID, mobile ID, or your bank account ID.

4. When you are ready, press the menu button named Get Data that will grant you access to your status with your name, the amount of credits you have, and your payment history.

In case you can find your name in the list, you can go ahead and correct it through the name correction of Aadhaar details through the PM Kisan portal or by contacting your agriculture office. Problems in either eligibility or registration can also be solved through the District Level Grievance Redressal Monitoring Committee.

What You Can Do to Make Sure You Get the Rs. 2,000 Payment

The ministry of agriculture, through its advisory, has highlighted six important measures to ensure that no one misses the 20th installment. These are the measures that are aimed at facilitating an easy transfer of funds:

1. Full e-KYC: As indicated, e-KYC is compulsory. Keep it up-to-date by either completing it online or at a CSC to remain eligible.

2. Link Aadhaar with Bank Account: You can link your bank account with Aadhaar because failure to do the same can cause transactions to fail.

3. Confirm Bank Account: Ensure that your account is in good standing, and have the correct information for the bank IFSC and account.

4. Register Land: The land that you possess should also be registered under your name and checked digitally.

5. Write Prescription: Prescriptions require a list of beneficiaries, so check to be sure you are listed on the list.

6. Update Mobile Number: Make sure your mobile number is registered in your Aadhar to do the updating/verification by OTP.

Farmers who do not do these things can have their payments delayed. One such reason is failure to make payment due to incomplete e-KYC or differing bank details, to cite an example. By working on these needs early, the farmers can ensure that the money (Rs. 2,000) is properly deposited on time in their accounts.

What Should You Do in Case You Miss the Payment?

In case you do not get the 20th disbursement within a few days of the scheduled release, it may occur due to technical problems or a mismatch of your information. The government guides to wait 24-72 hours once the release date has been announced because the DBT transfers program is at times exposed to a delay. In case the payment fails to come, then either call the PM Kisan Helpline (155261 or 1800-115-526) or personally visit the agriculture office in your town to get information regarding the same. You can also visit the PM Kisan site and inquire in the section of Beneficiary Status to know whether your application or account is wrong.

As in the case of farmers whose names are not in the list of beneficiaries, the only answer would be their updating the information with the authorities or reapplying to be in the scheme. It is possible to access the PM Kisan portal, enter Aadhaar details, and fix the problems with eligibility on the portal in the section of editing the Aadhaar details, or address the District Level Grievance Redressal Monitoring Committee to resolve these problems.

Why wait on the 20th installment?

The delay of the 20th earmarked in June 2025 has left the farmers worried. Though the government has not explained the official reason, delays are not unheard of, and they may happen because of administrative procedures, verification of beneficiary lists, or technical problems of DBT systems. The hope of making the announcement soon is on the cards with farmers to rally from Bihar on the very day the Prime Minister is expected to give a speech, and the uncertainty is quenched.

The PM Kisan Yojana remains a savior to millions of Indian farmers that helps them meet their financial agricultural requirements. As the 20th issue is supposed to come out somewhere around July 18, 2025, farmers need to be prompt enough to complete their e-KYC, check and review their bank and land accounts, and make sure that they are beneficiaries. Farmers should thus take the lead in following up on the advisory of the government and be on the lookout so that they get paid the Rs. 2,000 without any delays. Watch out for the official announcement and stay updated about this much-awaited installment; frequently visit the PM Kisan portal for the latest updates of the same.
