Yamaha’s Response to the Reduction in Price

Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said,

“We are pleased with the GST Council decision to cut tax on two-wheelers up to 350 cc. This would bring down the cost of two-wheelers to the customers and would increase demand during this festive." Yamaha is delighted to share this industry-first offer to our customers in India.

This points to Yamaha's purpose of not just being a contestant in the market but also to consolidate the brand's vision to put performance machines and stylish scooters within easy reach of its customers in India.

What the GST Cut Really Means for You as a Customer

Motorcycles are one of the most preferred mode of transportation in India, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. High taxes had been an obstacle to affordability for a long time. Now, with GST being cut down to 18 per cent, customers will see real fall in showroom prices and buying motorcycles and scooters will become that little bit more affordable.

The sports bike section has never looked so good with the R15 and MT-15 now being in the reach of younger buyers.

The commuter segment, too, gains as a result -- vehicles like the FZ-S and the FZ-X are more affordable.

The scooter space is more family- and working professional-oriented led by products such Fascino and RayZR which is glitzy and grabs attention.

Festive Season Push

The timing of such a price cut is key. With Navratri and Diwali in sight, the sale of two-wheelers is also expected to rise. With EMI payments shifted to lower, customers can opt for the lowest possible Yamaha Ex-Showroom prices, making it highest number of bookings at Yamaha dealers pan India.

Dealer are also planning to offer once in a blue moon festive discount and exchange bonus over the GST benefits to provide more savings for the customers.

Wider Industry Context

Yamaha is not the only one who is not passing on benefits of GST. Other manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India too have announced price reductions of as much as ₹15,000–₹18,000 on an average of their models.

But Yamaha is an exception since all its motorcycle offerings in India are sub 350 cc, and so, all its models will benefit from the tax revision. This consistent cut helps Yamaha slightly with better market positioning in the ongoing festive season.

What Buyers Should Consider

The new fares will be applied from 22 September 2025.

Prices could differ slightly from state to state based on local road tax and RTO charges.

Those who already booked bikes prior to this date may not be offered the revised rate though, unless the dealer also amends the invoicing.

Further on-road price discounts apply for festive season.
