These days, run any auto blog and boom – "Jio Electric Cycle Launched in India!" With headlines blasting out about a huge 200 km range, smart app linkage, digital display, pedal-assist motor, non-heavy frame, all at an overly cheap price. Places like lifecentreacademy.in are going all out, calling it Reliance Jio's giant move onto electricity-driven transport, made for both city commuting and students, the green-minded demographic, you name it.
Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? No pollution, low running costs, Jio's network for tracking your rides – as though the mobile telephone People about to do e-cycles too like they did data plans.
These Articles' Claims
Or at least, that's what they say:
Up to 200 km on a single charge (unheard of for e-bike).
Pedal-assist motor for those hills or traffic gains automatic.
Battery safety circuit with overheating protection.
Digital screen showed speed, battery, distance.
App for tracking your trip route, assigning vehicular biology,SMS alerts.
Sitting up straight well posted, easy to handle in narrow streets.
The price is very affordable (but no specific figures).
Advertising of its convenience for short trips has appeared – no pollution or gasoline bills.
Why Then All the Fuss?
I did a little checking – Reliance Jio's official website? Nothing. No press release, not a word on their social media about it, and nothing in Reliance Digital. Looked through news sites and ran cross three of the largest auto sites – still shut.
As for all these "launched" stories? Mostly on research blogs, alike issues come up regularly, stories where no photos of the real product appear (just generic electric bike pictures actually). The report also states that specs are subject to change and to look for original documentation from the manufacturer. A bit of that seems leaped the gun or all-out clickbait.
There have been reports for months now going around about Jio maybe marching into electric vehicles – in late 2025 at earliest or 2026, with some talk of an e-bike or scooter alongside Jio-bp's network charging plans. But out now, December 2025? No, not going to happen.
So What's All the reports About?
Jio's got a reputation for cheap, speedily shaking up markets. People are just longing for some low-priced, intelligent brand electric bicycle to roll out. Further many Indian electric push bike companies are doing well at the present day as Hero Electro, EMotorad, & Motovolt all show. Online wish fulfillment then super-quick becomes "news".
Should Jio eventually launch something real – say going long range, integrated with apps and with nationwide sales points all up to snuff, then for all the everyday commuters it would be absolutely tremendous.
But right now? Don't go booking or anything. Wait for the real thing to come out from Reliance or Jio. I've been bitten by jumping on randomly reported blogs before.
If you are thinking of buying an e-bike anyway, it is worth checking what exist s today – under 30-40 kilome ters in price and with a range of about 50-80 km.
