Price of the Bajaj Dominar 350 leaks before launch, undercuts its 400cc sibling
Bajaj entering a more attainable version of its touring-focused offering could expand its footprint in India’s mid-capacity motorcycle space. The Bajaj Dominar 350 is expected to be launched at an approximate starting body of Rs. 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom), as per preliminary details which have come to the fore ahead of its official introduction.
That puts the 350cc variant around Rs 37,000 shy of the existing 400cc model — a gulf which could act as an allure for riders looking to enjoy some of the Dominar’s long-distance touring ability without breaking their bank balance in doing so.
Although Bajaj has not yet officially confirmed the specs or positioning, the pricing appears to indicate an intentional effort to place it between low-end performance motorcycles and high-end touring machines. Affordability, however, continues to be a linchpin in this space with more candidates entering the fray and buyers balancing performance against everyday on-road usability.
The Dominar, which initially debuted as a power cruiser has slowly metamorphosed into a touring-oriented motorcycle that befits highway riders. The lower-displacement variant may help Bajaj attract a wider clientele, including younger riders and those who are upgrading from smaller displacement motorcycles.
For now, specifics on engine output, features and design tweaks are scarce. However, the Dominar 350 is expected to retain much of its big brother's visual identity and touring hardware, just with a less powerful powertrain.
We expect an official announcement in the following weeks that will clarify whether or not the Dominar 350 can offer the performance, price, and practicality balance we suspect Bajaj is aiming for.
