Intelligence Bureau to Recruit 394 Junior Intelligence Officers in 2025


New Delhi, 14 September 2025 – The Ministry of Home Affairs today started the online application process for recruitment to the post of IB Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II (Technical) 2025. JIO-II/Tech: The post of Junior Intelligence Officer (JIO-II/Tech) is open to the applicants in numbers of 394 seats. This recruitment gives an opportunity for the eligible technicals from all over India to serve the nation’s internal intelligence.


Official applications opened on 23 August 2025 and will close 14 September 2025 at 11:59 PM. Applications must be submitted online only through the official website of MHA or through NCS portal on lind of NCS.


The IB JIO recruitment 2025 seeks applications from eligible Indian nationals with a diploma in engineering or bachelors’ degree in science or computer applications. Selection will be through a multi-stage process that involves various phases of selection i.e. Preliminary and Main examination will be conducted online and candidates will have to qualify for each of these tests in order to progress to the next process.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background

Engineering Diploma — Applicants will be required to fulfill at least one of the following educational criteria:

in Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Computer Application streams

OR Bachelor’s degree in science (After obtaining the degree notice should provide between 3-5 years exp) with Electronics, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics as one of the subjects.

OR Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from a recognized university/ institute.


Age Limit

Candidates' age should be between 18 to 27 years as on the last date for receipt of application. Age relaxation is admissible SC/ST/OBC/Departmental Candidates and women candidates as per government Rules.


Selection Process

Summary of the selection process There are three rigorous stages of each selection.

Tier I Online Test : Objective type : 100 marks; 100 questions with 2 hours duration Maximum marks: 100 Negative marking : in 0.25 marks for the questions answered incorrectly. The sections comprise general mental ability and subject- specific objective questions.


Tier-II Skill Test – This will be a technical skills test where in the candidate will be scored out of a maximum of 30 marks.


Tier-III Interview / Personality Test (wherever applicable) – Final assessment of personality, communication abilities, and potential fit, marked out of 20.


Final categores will be decided by sum of all categories for the all stages. Tie breakers shall be decided based on the performance in Tier-I and Tier-II and as per the extant guidelines.


Compensation and Career Growth

The Junior Intelligence Officer job provides a fixed salary under the 7th Pay Commission Level-4 range (₹25,500 to ₹81,100). In addition to basic pay, employees are entitled to central allowances and a 20% special security allowance, in addition to compensatory duty allowance when duty is performed on Sundays/on days of National Festivals (up to 30 days).
