Patna, Bihar – Bihar Government has introduced the the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY), an ambitious scholarship scheme for the girls who have completed their graduation. According to information from the party, under the scheme, every female who is a graduate from Bihar, and domiciled in Bihar will get an incentive amounting to ₹50,000 directly in her bank account. This is part of the state’s bigger drive to improve socio-economic status and access to higher education for women.

The MKUY offers ₹50,000 to girls who have graduated from a recognised associated or government-approved college or technical institution located in Bihar between April 1, 2021 and December 31, 2024. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the graduation-pass bonus under MKUY:

Candidates Should be _ Female and Place of posting will be in state of Bihar.

Should have passed a Graduation (Bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university in Bihar under session 2018-21, 2019-22, 2020-23 & 2021-24

They can be married or single, there’s no division requirement - 1st, 2nd or 3rd division grads can apply!

The applicant family Member should not be in government service or as an income tax payee

Aadhar Card (same as bank account)

Permanent Bihar domicile certificate

Bank passbook first page PAD (Aadhaar-seeded account)

Passport-size photograph and signature scan

Step-by-Step Application Process

The application process is completely online through the MedhaSoft portal, the official scholarship portal of the Bihar Government. The steps are as follows:

Visit medhasoft.bihar.gov.in and click on the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (Graduation) section.

Click on “Apply Online” and read all the instructions.

Finish registration by providing university regitsration number, father’s name, marksheet number, and Aadhaar details.

Registration & e-mail confirmation and Verification of mobile number and e-mail ID through OTP.

Fill it up with your bank a/c, IFSC and residential/domicile certi details etc.

Upload all documents with the required format.


Check out all the listings and apply.

Acknowledgement receipt can be downloaded and saved for future reference.


Then the department and the bank do verifications after submission. The Aadhaar-linked bank account receives a credit message and the beneficiary is informed.


Verification & Payment

Only Aadhaar-linked bank accounts are allowed. Applicants not having linked Aadhaar number have to approach the bank for seeding Aadhaar immediately, as applications without the seeding of Aadhaar are liable to be rejected/delayed.


The scholarship money is credited in the beneficiary’s account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) so that there is no delay or middlemen.
