Yamaha RX100 2025 Returns to India (This Time for Real)

Revival of a legend

With the 2025 model, the long-defunct nameplate much loved to India is finally seen on a product of its form. Announced with much hoopla, the RX100 2025 is supposed to be a combination of the retro that makes the original so endearing and tech for today.

Engine, performance and mechanicals

Running beneath its retro styling is an all-new single-cylinder, fuel-injected 200 cc mill, which churns out about 22 PS and 18 Nm. It gets a five-speed gearbox and Yamaha's promised strong mid-range, crisp throttle response and, of course, that all important growl of the original RX series.

As for the ride, the RX100 2025 receives telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers along with front and rear disc brakes, dual-channel ABS too—a much-needed update standards-wise.

Design: Retro soul With a modern twist

Its classic teardrop fuel tank with flush fitting cap, chrome touches on the headlamp visor (also in an LED Daytime Running Light), a yesteryear styled simple tail section and spoked wheels have been brought up to give the bike unmistakably old school magical dust of the original RX100. Contemporary notes come by way of the round LED headlamp, an analogue-digital instrument cluster (which features gear position, fuel and trip data), LED lighting throughout and optional Bluetooth connectivity for navigation directions and alerts.

Practicality and mileage expectations

Performance is one side of the story and Yamaha has not overlooked usability as well. The reported fuel efficiency is ≈ 40-45 km/l depending on the conditions. The lightweight frame and upright seating position offers a unique blend of sporty FP fun while still being practical for every day riding.

Price, availability and market response

The RX100 2025 is expected to be priced in the range of ₹1.50 lakh to ₹1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India) depending on variant and colour option selected. Booking for the new model has commenced at few Yamaha dealerships and deliveries shall begin soon.

The market response has been generally positive. Older enthusiasts who grew up with the original RX100 are thrilled by the revival, while newer riders seem to be attracted by its cocktail of style, performance and provenance. Early thoughts are everywhere on social media forums.

Considerations

Although the claimed economy is fair for a 200 cc machine, actual running will vary depending upon your riding style, local traffic conditions and regular servicing.

The pricing makes it the competition to beat; a decision for potential buyers boils down to brand background vs bang-for-buck.

Retro styling is limited to a particular market; those in the city looking only for economy will prefer smaller-cc machines still.

Final take

The India two-wheeler space has always had an emotional connect with the RX100 moniker. With the RX100 2025, Yamaha wants to pay tribute to that bike while delivering something in line with current expectations of performance, safety and aesthetic appearance. If this rebirth can achieve something of the cult status held by its predecessor only time will tell, but the launch is certainly a bold one from Yamaha, casting a flag firmly in the ground and letting people know that it intends to be a major player in the retro-performance market.
