In India, the scooter segment experienced healthy demand in the month of March 2026, with almost all the key models registering healthy yearly sales growth. This boom was an indication of the long-term consumer demand of convenient and fuel-efficient personal transport due to the increased mobility demand in urban and semi-urban areas.
The 10 leading scooters have recorded the following sales in March 2026: 670,914 units, which is a good 29.61 percent improvement on the 517,624 units sold in March of the previous year.

8. Suzuki Burgman – 26,889 units (March 2025: 31,219 units; -13.87%)

9. Yamaha RayZR – 25,798 units (March 2025: 14,510 units; +77.79%)
The RayZR has a remarkable growth, and it is due to its lightweight characteristic and fuel efficiency aimed at young consumers.

The family-friendly scooter of Hero had a good momentum, as it was attractive to the buyers who needed a practical scooter at an affordable cost.
The good show in the majority of the models indicates the long-term existence of the scooter within the Indian two-wheeler industry. The traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters like the Activa, Jupiter and Access continue to dominate the volumes, but electric ones like the iQube and Chetak are gaining a bigger proportion.
Analysts attribute the growth to a number of factors: economic recovery that favors aspirational purchases, an improved product offering with modern features, and an overall move towards personal mobility after the pandemic. The manufacturers have also had the advantage of increased distribution channels to a farther area into small towns and cities.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India maintained the general leadership in the scooter arena and TVS Motor exhibited significant competencies via its ICE and electric portfolio. The competition will further escalate as additional brands launch new models and lower-priced electric models in the next few months.
The segment has ended on a high note with the financial year 2025-26, and now given that the festive season is imminent, the tradition has always been of making even more sales of the two-wheelers during the festive season.
